The sale, which happened in 2022, stirred up even more attention when Drake later hinted at melting down the pieces in a diss track aimed at his longtime rival, Pusha T.

In an interview with GG Magazine published on November 13, Pharrell shared his thoughts on the auction of his iconic jewelry.

“You never realize how much all the stuff you have weighs on you, but it does,” Pharrell said, reflecting on the decision to part ways with his treasures. “When you let that go, man, you feel so free.”

The jewelry Drake purchased includes a 14K three-tone N.E.R.D pendant chain, a white gold brain pendant chain, and a skateboard pendant chain.

These pieces, once owned by Pharrell, have become a part of hip-hop history. Drake’s $3.3 million purchase is a nod to that legacy, even if his plans with the jewelry seemed less than respectful.

In his verse on Travis Scott’s “Meltdown,” Drake rapped about melting down the chains, saying: “I melt down the chains that I bought from yo boss / Give a f*** about all of that heritage sh*t.”

The lyrics added fuel to the fire of his ongoing feud with Pusha T, but Pharrell didn’t seem fazed by the threat.

When asked how the verse struck him, Pharrell simply replied, “It didn’t.” His calm response reveals that he’s more focused on the bigger picture.

“At the heart of it, he’s a fan of music,” Pharrell said, acknowledging Drake’s admiration for the art form.

Despite the tension, Pharrell’s reaction shows he’s unbothered by the drama, letting the music and legacy speak for themselves.
