Former Premier League referee David Coote has been dismissed by the PGMOL after an investigation into controversial vieos involving him.
David Coote was initially suspended in November when a video surfaced showing him using derogatory language about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
On Monday, David Coote’s future was confirmed with a statement reading:
“Following the conclusion of a thorough investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated today with immediate effect. David Coote’s actions were found to be in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable.Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare. David Coote has a right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment.”
In the video, Coote referred to Klopp as a “c***” and criticized Liverpool’s performance in a game against Burnley during the pandemic, describing them as “s***.” Coote was reportedly frustrated with Klopp’s criticism of him during the match, accusing the German coach of being arrogant.
Following the social media publication of the second film purportedly showing Coote taking white substance during Euro 2024, Coote would subsequently get a suspension from UEFA.
