A Mississippi man is facing capital murder charges after allegedly kidnapping his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Glynis Jackson, and killing her in a tragic escape attempt.
Joshua Demarshall Andrews, 38, is accused of abducting Jackson from her workplace at a Nissan plant in Canton on January 27, 2025.
According to authorities, Andrews shot Jackson multiple times before she attempted to escape from the car and was struck by a passing vehicle. She was pregnant with Andrews’ child at the time.
The kidnapping was reported to authorities around 7:30 a.m., with Jackson’s death following shortly after. Sheriff Randy Tucker confirmed that Andrews later turned himself in at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Andrews faces capital murder charges and firearm possession as a felon. The charges related to Jackson’s unborn child are categorized as first-degree murder.
Authorities have not provided further details on whether the driver who hit Jackson will face charges.
Sheriff Tucker condemned the crime, stating, “This is a heinous act that shocks the conscience of society.” Andrews’ arrest has sparked outrage as Jackson’s family mourns the loss of a beloved mother of three.
