Prosecutor calls XXXTentacion’s alleged killers ‘predators’

The murder trial of XXXTentacion is currently ongoing and a prosecutor in Florida has referred to the individuals accused of k!lling the late rapper as “predators” during a court hearing held at a courthouse in Broward County.

The Associated Press reported that during the hearing on March 7, Prosecutor Pascale Achille showed cellphone footage that allegedly depicts Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome dancing with wads of $100 bills shortly after allegedly committing the murder of XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy.

Achille stated that this behavior is a reflection of their true nature, as they were allegedly seen happily celebrating only a day after committing the murder and stealing $50,000 from the victim.

During the court hearing, Pascale Achille informed the courtroom that the four men, including Robert Allen, had allegedly gone to Riva Motorsports in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with the intention of robbing someone. Williams and Allen entered the store to purchase a mask, and while they were there, they saw XXXTentacion. The two men then went back to their rented SUV and waited for XXXTentacion to exit the shop.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed the SUV swerving in front of XXXTentacion’s BMW while he was inside with a friend. Two masked gunmen then approached the vehicle and opened fire, killing XXXTentacion while his friend remained unharmed. The men allegedly took a Louis Vuitton bag that contained cash that XXXTentacion had previously withdrawn from an unknown bank.

The prosecutors presented surveillance video footage from the motorcycle shop during the court hearing, which allegedly showed two of the accused men hiding an SUV that was connected to XXXTentacion’s murder. Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome have all been charged with first-degree murder and could face life imprisonment if found guilty. On the other hand, Robert Allen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2022 and testified against his former accomplices.

During the court proceedings, George Reres, who is representing Newsome, argued that his client should not be convicted solely based on Allen’s testimony against his former friends. Reres stated that Newsome was not present at the scene of the crime, and his DNA was not found on any evidence. Additionally, Reres argued that the jurors should not assume Newsome’s guilt based on cellphone footage that shows him with money, as he may not have been aware of the money’s source.

“He did some stupid things — he posed with some money,” Reres said, according to The Associated Press. “Guilt by association is not something the law permits.”

Mauricio Padilla, Williams’ attorney, called Allen a “liar“ and suggested that there was a contradiction between the prosecutor’s witnesses and that law enforcement failed to look at other possible suspects, including rapper Drake.

Previously, Drake was called to sit for a deposition during XXXTentacion’s trial because of their past grievances, but Judge Michael A. Usan ruled against the decision. In new video from the court room, Judge Usan found Padilla’s arguments to be unconvincing.

“What does that have to do with someone who you have no evidence of being involved other than hearsay and innuendo?” Usan asked Padilla as he tried to state his case. “You are now trying to just drag somebody in who’s a celebrity who does not want to be associated with this. And the harm to that individual is not inconsequential.”

He continued: “At best, that would be adding an unindicted co-conspirator, if you will. But that’s not a defense to the individuals that are here.”
