A client who refused to pay her $5 up front for her services was recently fatally stabbed by a 31-year-old night worker and her boyfriend.
On November 26, 2023, Wellington Mupfuti, the victim, hired Fungai for a brief meeting.
Wellington and Fungai were drinking beer at the nightclub where they first met. Wellington said he was interested in bedroom games as they were sipping their drinks, so Fungai offered to charge US$5 for her services.

After leaving the club for Wellington’s house, things took a bad turn when Fungai demanded money up front, which the client angrily refused.

After the argument turned physical, Fungai is said to have stabbed Wellington in the shoulder and forehead with a knife she took out of her bra.
Onesimo, Fungai’s boyfriend, showed up on the scene, adding a twist to the tragedy that was developing.
After allegedly receiving the knife from Fungai, he reportedly joined the attack and stabbed Wellington in the neck and back.
Following their appearance before Chipinge magistrate Alfred Chinembiri, Fungai Kufakwatenzi and her live-in boyfriend, Onesimo Tonha Chamutsa, of Birchenough Bridge, were placed under arrest and kept under custody until December 11. They were told to apply for bail at the High Court, according to Manica Post.
