Despite playing at home – old traffic, in front of their fans, United were outplayed by the impressive wolves who deservingly won the match.

This result; once again underline the inconsistencies and lack of rhythm in their style of play. Though the manager recently took charge, united form is dwindling especially in the last four matches.

However, the only positive aspect is that this was Rangnick’s first defeat as the interim coach. The German tactician succeeded “ole” who was sacked following a run of poor results with a defeat to fellow rivals Watford by a scoreline of 4-1 being the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

After the match, the Norwegian was sacked and replaced by assistant head coach Michael Carrick who managed only 3; winning two and drawing one before giving way to the German tactician.

In an interview with sports reporters, the interim coach said;

“I knew it would be a difficult job,” Rangnick to reporters.

“There was a reason why they contacted me and signed me, so I knew from the start it would not be an easy job to find the best possible balance with regards to the players we have offensively and defensively.

“It was important for me we don’t concede that many goals. But again today against a good team, one of the better teams in possession of the ball and not an easy team to create chances [against] ourselves, it still showed we are struggling and we have quite a few steps to take.

“As I said, it’s always a question of balance, how do you need to create chances offensively and how compact do you have to be to defend your own goal? And this is what it’s all about. Finding the best possible players for the formation and hoping every player plays in his best possible position.”

Currently, Manchester United are not in the top four as Arsenal are 4th in the table. Manchester United City tops the table while Chelsea and Liverpool remain in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
