Raphinha: “We’re better than Real Madrid. I want to score against Real Madrid”

Barcelona’s thrashed MLS franchise Inter Miami 0-6 in their first pre-season tour in US with new signings Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie making their unofficial debuts for the club.

The former Leeds United ace first game was off to the perfect start as he found the back of the net to score his first goal for the club and had two assists against Inter Miami CF.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ansu Fati also scored in the first period. Gavi, Memphis and Dembele completed the rout in the second half of the game which saw the Calatalan giants beat Inter Miami 0-6.

Speaking after the game, Raphinha was in a jubilant mood, as he said:

Very happy to have scored my first goal. It was a good game. I tried to have a good game. I’m very happy and hope to continue it.”

The Brazilian winger believes that his side is better than arch-rivals Real Madrid and now wished to score in the next friendly against the Spanish Champions next Saturday, July 23, in Las Vegas.

One always tries to score against anyone, but if it’s in a Derby, even more. The most important thing is the win.”

I want to score against Real Madrid. We are looking forward to that match But for me we’re better than Real Madrid”, he added.

Raphinha acknowledge his teammates performance and also confident that his side had great quality and they must challenge for top honours.

Barcelona has several young talented players. Barça’s future is in good hands with these players. We have to fight for all of the major titles.”

Talking about his adaptation after joining Barcelona from Leeds United.

Playing with these players makes everything easier for me. I still have to adapt to the team’s style, but they’re helping me, and I hope to help them too” he said.

The former Leeds United player also has Qatar 2022 World Cup on his sights after confessing that he is confident that his play at FC Barcelona will boost his chances of playing in a World Cup for the ‘canarinha’ in November.
