Born with his legal name Cornell Haynes II, reports have it that Nelly was arrested at around 4:45 am in St. Louis by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance – four ecstasy pills – and no proof of insurance on an old traffic charge from in Maryland Heights.
According to state patrol records, Nelly was released from the Maryland Heights Police Department.

According to the statement, Nelly was “targeted by an overzealous, out of line officer,” who demanded a background check after Nelly won a particular amount at the casino where he was arrested.
Rosenblum stated that a background check was not previously conducted when Nelly earned “similar or greater amounts” at the same location.
He said that the officer handcuffed Nelly, paraded him through the casino, and then “conducted a search without probable cause where he claimed to have found alleged ‘ecstasy,'” in Nelly’s personal goods.
Rosenblum stated that Nelly is “regularly asked to provide proof of no warrants.” Including FBI checks as a prerequisite for foreign travel. “”There were none.”
“I am 100% confident that this case will go nowhere,” Rosenblum stated. “And we will be asking for an inquiry into this officer’s conduct.”
