A Detroit-based rapper is suing ride-hailing giant Lyft after a driver allegedly refused to give her a ride, claiming she was too large to fit in his car.
Dajua Blanding, known by her stage name Dank Demoss, is seeking justice after the incident, which occurred earlier this month.
The confrontation unfolded when Demoss ordered a ride in a Mercedes-Benz sedan. As soon as the driver arrived, he reportedly locked the doors and told her there was no room for her in the back seat.
Demoss, who identifies as a BBW (Big Beautiful Woman), recorded the encounter and shared it on social media on January 19.
In the viral video, Demoss calmly insists that she can fit in the car, but the driver, identified as Ibrahim, shoots back, saying the vehicle couldn’t handle her weight and that he had “been in this situation before.”
He also mentioned that she should request a larger car. “So every big person, you turn down because they can’t fit in your car?” Demoss asks in the video.

The rapper, who weighed 554 pounds as of last year, filed a lawsuit against Lyft this week, accusing the company of discrimination.
She said the driver’s actions were hurtful and unjust, adding that she has ridden in smaller vehicles in the past without issue.
The video quickly gained attention, racking up over 340,000 views on TikTok by January 28. In interviews, Demoss expressed her emotional pain from the experience.
“It hurt my feelings,” she told FOX2. She is now hoping the lawsuit will bring awareness to discrimination against people based on their size.
