Real Madrid kept the celebration going strong at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu while Alavés suffered a defeat at the hands of the champions.

Madrid missed out on celebrating their earlier title win on May 4 against Cadiz due to their upcoming semi-final match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

However, they secured a spot in the final against Borussia Dortmund in London on June 1 with a 2-1 victory. Presenting their 36th La Liga trophy to their fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid followed up with an impressive 5-0 win over Alaves, highlighted by Vinícius Júnior scoring twice and Jude Bellingham adding another goal.

Although the club celebrated the title through the streets of Madrid on Sunday, they couldn’t hold their traditional celebration at the Bernabeu due to a concert at the stadium.

Vinicius on Real Madrid Performance

“I’m really pleased with the team’s performance. We need to get into a good rhythm. We have a very important game left to crown our season,”  Vinicius told Spanish TV.

“My dream since I was a child was to play here and now we have the opportunity to deliver this victory for many kids who want to be here but can’t.”

Bellingham achieved a unique feat in LaLiga, scoring and assisting in the same game for the fourth time this season, a record unmatched by any other player in the competition during the 2023-24 season.

Vinicius praised their partnership, stating, “We have a very good connection.”

“I always say that I admire him, I’m a fan of his, and I do everything possible for him to adapt as quickly as he can to this group and this football.”

“We’re both happy. Let’s hope he scores more goals and finishes as top scorer.”

“I feel good,” Courtois told Real Madrid TV after the game. “I understand that there might be some doubts when you come back. But I knew I’d come back stronger. I’m the same Courtois or even better.”

“Maybe I needed a game like today, with a lot of shots. I needed those close-range shots, quick, reflexes. I felt proud of the save low, to the left. What I’ve been doing in training, you’re seeing now on the pitch.”

Before the match, Alaves’ players paid tribute to Madrid by forming a guard of honor, standing near the sideline and applauding as the Madrid footballers entered the field.

Madrid captain Nacho Fernández led the team onto the field, carrying the league trophy. Images representing the other 35 league trophies were placed around the midfield circle.

With Real Madrid already securing the title and Alavés safe from relegation and far from European football contention, the game was essentially a ceremonial exhibition.

Madrid maintained their unbeaten home record in the league this season and aim to finish the entire home league campaign undefeated for the first time since 2019-20.

Carlo Ancelotti fielded a strong lineup, resembling one that could compete in a Champions League match, featuring many players likely to start in the upcoming final at Wembley.

Madrid will play Villarreal away on Sunday and then host Real Betis on May 25 before their final match against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on June 1st.
