Rema, the Nigerian superstar, has achieved another remarkable feat with his hit single ‘Calm Down’, which is now qualified for platinum certification internationally.
Chart news platform Chart Data announced on Friday, 3rd February 2023, that Rema’s popular international track has met the requirements for platinum certification in the United Kingdom.

Initially released on February 11, 2022, as one of the lead singles from his debut album ‘Rave & Roses,’ ‘Calm Down’ quickly became a hit in Nigeria before gaining popularity worldwide.
The song has achieved immense digital success, garnering over a billion streams across all platforms. Additionally, it holds the distinction of being the most-watched Afrobeats music video on YouTube.
Following a remix featuring Selena Gomez, ‘Calm Down’ gained international recognition, peaking at No. 5 on the UK Official Singles Chart and No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.
With over 600,000 units sold in the United Kingdom, ‘Calm Down’ has now achieved eligibility for a platinum plaque from the British Phonographic Industry. The song has also received an RIAA platinum plaque for exceeding one million units in sales in the United States.
Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ marks his inaugural platinum-certified single in the UK, joining the ranks of fellow lead artists CKay, Wizkid, and Burna Boy who have received BPI platinum plaques.
