Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri has made history by winning the men’s Ballon d’Or for the first time, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The 28-year-old received the prestigious award in Paris after an exceptional season, during which he lost only one match for both club and country.
Rodri’s outstanding contributions were pivotal in helping Spain secure victory at Euro 2024 in July.
Additionally, he played a crucial role in Manchester City’s triumphant season, where the team clinched the Premier League title, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup.

This victory also makes Rodri the first player in Manchester City’s history to be awarded the Ballon d’Or, underscoring his impact within the club and the sport at large.

While Rodri celebrated his win, Real Madrid was notably absent from the ceremony despite receiving the award for Club of the Year, as well as Carlo Ancelotti winning the men’s Coach of the Year title.
The Spanish giants opted to boycott the event after their forward Vinicius Jr was reportedly overlooked for the Ballon d’Or, a decision that cast a shadow over the evening’s festivities.

Rodri’s achievement highlights not only his individual brilliance but also the success of Manchester City and the Spanish national team, as he continues to solidify his reputation as one of the best midfielders in the game today.
