Kylian Mbappé: A dream come true
In a post announcing his move, Mbappé wrote: “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now.
“Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”
Real Madrid Teammates Extend Warm Welcome
Mbappé’s new Madrid teammates took to social media to extend a warm welcome upon his arrival.
Prior to Madrid’s official announcement of the signing on Monday, Vinícius Júnior hinted at the news with a “watch” emoji.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois greeted Mbappé in French, saying, “Welcome to your new home.”
France teammate Eduardo Camavinga shared a photo of himself with Mbappé from international duty, while midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni wrote, “welcome home bro!”
Even Brazil forward Rodrygo Goes, whose position in the Madrid starting 11 might be affected by Mbappé’s arrival, expressed excitement, posting a series of heart eye emojis.
Mbappé has signed a five-year deal, which includes a reported £85 million signing-on bonus. Sources have indicated that he will earn €15 million a year after tax at Madrid, to be paid over the length of his contract.
He will join a Madrid side that are already the reigning Spanish and European champions, having completed a double last season. Madrid won LaLiga by a 10-point margin and defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Kylian Mbappé will join the team on July 1, once his PSG contract expires.
He has been given the No. 9 shirt and will lead the line for Real Madrid next season, flanked by Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, playing just ahead of England star Jude Bellingham.
Kylian Mbappé scored 256 goals in 308 games for PSG, having joined them in 2018 from Ligue 1 rivals Monaco.
Mbappé is currently on international duty with France ahead of the upcoming European Championship.
It is understood that he also wanted to represent France at the Paris Olympics. However, he was left out of yesterday’s provisional squad, with manager Thierry Henry stating: “Clubs have the power to say yes or no.”
Madrid has not yet confirmed the date for his presentation at the Bernabéu, but it’s expected to occur after his commitments with the French national team are completed.
