Sadio Mane & Asisat Oshoala wins CAF Player of the Year award

Bayern Munich’s new forward Sadio Mane has been awarded the best African player of the year 2022 after beating Mohamed Salah & Edouard Mendy.

Mane has now retained his trophy after winning the last edition in 2019, the awards has not been held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m really honoured and really delighted to receive this honour this evening. I want to thank the president of the Senegalese Football Federation and Aliou Cisse, my coach, and without forgetting my team-mates at club and international level,” Mane said.

“I’m emotional. I don’t have the words to express myself.”

“I dedicate this trophy to the youth of my country.”

The women’s category went to Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala who picked up the Women’s Player of the Year award for a record fifth time.
