Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing a federal racketeering and sex trafficking indictment, but his legal team maintains that videos at the center of the case prove his innocence.
Combs’ attorneys claim that the videos, referred to as “freak off” encounters, show “fully consenting adults” and no evidence of coercion, violence, or trafficking.
In a filing submitted to the New York federal court on January 14, 2025, Combs’ lawyers requested that the court allow electronic copies of the videos to be provided to the defense for further analysis.
The videos were reviewed under the supervision of law enforcement in late 2024, with Combs’ team asserting that they depict six consensual sexual encounters involving Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, identified in previous filings as “Victim-1.”
The filing emphasized that there are no secret recordings, no violence, and no minors involved in the footage.
The videos were reportedly provided to the government by Ventura’s legal team, and strict conditions were negotiated to protect her privacy.
Combs’ attorneys argue that these conditions could hinder his defense, requesting the videos be produced in a more accessible format for independent review.

Prosecutors, however, accuse Combs of using force, threats, and coercion to involve victims in “Freak Off” encounters, which were allegedly orchestrated, filmed, and used to silence the victims with the threat of releasing incriminating footage.
They claim that Combs, in his role as a music mogul, created an environment of manipulation and exploitation.
Combs’ legal team has vehemently rejected these claims, describing the government’s portrayal as “paternalistic” and “sexist.”
They argue that the evidence does not show any illegal or harmful behavior, and they are prepared to hire experts to analyze the videos to further support their case.
The case continues to unfold, with Combs facing trial on May 5, 2025, after being denied bond multiple times.
