The National Election Security Taskforce has called on all security personnel across Ghana to participate fully in the Special Voting exercise set for Monday, December 2, 2024.
This is part of efforts to ensure that security agencies are involved in the electoral process while safeguarding the integrity of the upcoming elections.
However, the exercise has been postponed in the Eastern and Western Regions.
The Electoral Commission (EC) made this decision after identifying quality concerns with the ballot papers, prompting a recall and reprinting process. Voting in these regions will now take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The Electoral Commission has reassured the public that it is working swiftly to resolve the issue, aiming to minimize any disruptions.
In response, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement reaffirming that all security personnel have the right to vote and that those in the affected regions will still be able to cast their ballots on the newly scheduled date.
“Security personnel in the two regions will be able to vote when the rescheduled date is confirmed by the Electoral Commission,” the statement emphasized, ensuring that no one loses their opportunity to participate in the election.
The call for security agencies to vote reflects their vital role in ensuring the safety and fairness of the elections, and their involvement is seen as crucial to upholding the democratic process.
