O’Connor was born Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor on 8 December 1966 at the Cascia House Nursing Home on Baggot Street in Dublin. She was named Sinéad after Sinéad de Valera, the mother of the doctor who presided over her delivery (Éamon de Valera, Jnr.), and Bernadette in honour of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes.

Throughout her illustrious career, O’Connor achieved chart-topping success with albums like Am I Not Your Girl? (1992), Universal Mother (1994), and Faith and Courage (2000), the latter attaining gold certification in Australia.

Throw Down Your Arms (2005) secured gold status in Ireland. Her artistic journey extended beyond albums, encompassing contributions to film soundtracks, collaborations with various artists, and performances at charitable events.

In 2021, O’Connor’s memoir, “Rememberings,” hit the shelves and quickly soared to bestseller status, providing fans with a glimpse into the life of this influential artist.
