South Korean actor Song Jae-rim has tragically passed away at the age of 39. According to multiple reports, including CNN and The Korea Herald, the actor and former model was found dead in his Seoul apartment on Tuesday, November 12.
Jae-rim’s friend, who had planned to meet him for lunch, discovered his body. The Seoul Seongdong police have confirmed that there were no signs of foul play at the scene.
A note was also found, but authorities have not released further details. “Our initial investigation has revealed no signs of criminal activity,” a police spokesperson told CNN.
Since the actor’s family requested no autopsy, his body will be returned to them.

Song Jae-rim was well-known for his work in television and film. He made his breakout appearance in the 2009 movie Actresses and later gained widespread recognition for his role in the hit drama Moon Embracing the Sun (2012).
He also appeared on the popular reality show We Got Married in 2014. His last project was Get Rich, an action-comedy film directed by Yang Tae-jin, which was in post-production as of late September 2024.
Tributes have poured in from fellow South Korean celebrities who remembered Jae-rim for his bright personality and kindness. Actor Park Ho-san expressed his sorrow on Instagram, writing,
“This is mad… Jae-lim, you were such a cheerful guy… I’m so sorry for not contacting you or caring for you enough.” Actor Hong Seok-cheon also shared his grief, saying, “I’m sad that I can’t see your wonderful smile again.”
Jae-rim’s final Instagram post, shared on January 23, featured a mirror selfie with the caption “😷.” His untimely passing has left fans and friends heartbroken.
