Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy recently clarified the reasons behind his absence from Baba Sadiq’s Salafest show in Abeka.
The event, organized by the former CEO of 3Music, took place last month and was initially set to feature the renowned dancehall star. However, Stonebwoy’s unexpected no-show sparked rumors and speculation.
There were also talks making round from Baba Sadiq that Stone who ended up at the Nima show instead of his show at Abeka did not make it there due to his issues with his rival, Shatta Wale.
Stonebwoy’s Reaction on Hitz 103.9 FM
In a recent interview on Accra-based radio station, Hitz 103.9 FM on Thursday, morning (June 13, 2024), Stonebwoy cleared the air and gave the reasons he did not attend he event at Abeka.
Contrary to the rumors that his absence was due to issues with rival artist Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy clarified that his decision was not influenced by any personal conflicts. “These are some of the things that have led us to where we are going,” Stonebwoy stated, emphasizing that his absence had nothing to do with Shatta Wale.
According to Stonebwoy , he and his team decided not to attend the event because he [Baba Sadiq] breached an agreement they had.
The dancehall star revealed that he and his team had agreed to participate in the event under specific conditions. One key term was that the event, being a charity show, was not to be advertised.
Stonebwoy explained that the intention was to keep the event low-profile, aligning with its charitable nature. However, Baba Sadiq allegedly went ahead and promoted the event with flyers, etc, which Stonebwoy claimed was a clear violation of their agreement.
Stonebwoy further asserted that he had evidence to support his claims. He mentioned possessing screenshots showing that Baba Sadiq’s staff were unhappy with the premature promotion of the event.
This breach of trust left Stonebwoy and his team with no choice but to withdraw from the event at the last minute.
