Xu was apprehended at the scene shortly after the assault and confessed to the crime. Investigators have noted that the suspect’s dissatisfaction with his academic and financial situation may have fueled the rampage.

Graphic videos circulating on social media, including X (formerly Twitter), showed scenes of chaos, with injured victims lying on the street as bystanders rushed to assist.

However, a search of Chinese social media platform Weibo yielded no related videos or images, suggesting that content related to the attack has been tightly monitored or removed.

The attack comes just days after another devastating tragedy in China, where a driver in Zhuhai deliberately rammed his car into a crowd outside a sports center, killing 35 people and injuring 43 others.

Both incidents have raised concerns over rising violence linked to personal grievances in the country.

The Wuxi attack marks one of the most violent outbursts of frustration in recent months, with authorities continuing to investigate the motives behind Xu’s actions.
