A suspect has been arrested in connection with the 1997 murder of 17-year-old James Hutson and the sexual assault of his mother, Mary Hutson, in Kingsport, Tennessee.
George Robinson was charged with three counts of first-degree murder after DNA linked him to the crime scene.
The horrific incident took place on September 6, 1997, when James was found stabbed to death and his mother sexually assaulted in their home.
Although DNA was collected from the scene, no suspect was identified at the time, and the case went cold. Mary Hutson passed away a year later, with the case still unsolved.

In 2023, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reopened the case, and new testing was done on the DNA evidence by Othram Labs.
Robinson was identified as a suspect, and after authorities obtained a DNA sample from him, it was confirmed as a match.
A grand jury indicted him for the murder charges in November 2024. However, he was not charged with the sexual assault due to the statute of limitations.
