After a terror plot forced the postponement of three of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts, she has now spoken out for the first time.
She has now given an explanation for her previous silence over the cancellations, which notably affected her Vienna shows during her European leg.
Swift shared on Instagram how tough it was to handle the circumstances. “Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating,” she said. She was both terrified and guilty about the terror threat that resulted in the cancellations because she knew that many fans had traveled great distances to see those performances.
Swift was overjoyed that the government had intervened to save a possible catastrophe. She remarked, “Thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.” Plans to attack her Vienna gigs with explosives and knives were part of the terror plot, which was thwarted by Austrian authorities and would have endangered thousands of fans.

Swift was moved by the tenacity and solidarity exhibited by her followers in spite of the postponed performances. In a show of support, supporters in Vienna flocked to the streets and began singing her songs and trading friendship bracelets. Swift was encouraged by this show of unity and love in the midst of the pandemonium.
Swift collaborated extensively with British authorities after the Vienna incident to guarantee the safety of her upcoming London performances at Wembley Stadium. Swift called these final concerts of her European tour a “rollercoaster of emotions,” but in the end, the events proved to be successful.
Addressing her silenceness, Swift also addressed the backlash against her for holding back earlier in her essay. She wrote, “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.”
Swift clarified that she refrained from speaking until it was safe to do so out of self-control. She emphasized that her priority was the safety of her fans and the successful completion of her tour. With the European leg now over, Swift expressed relief that it ended without further incident.

She also expressed her gratitude to Ed Sheeran, Florence Welch, and Jack Antonoff, the special guests who attended with her. She described it as a “dizzying honor” to be the first solo artist to perform eight gigs at Wembley in a single tour.

“To the fans who have seen us this summer, you’ll always have the most sparkling place in my memories,” Swift wrote as she wrapped up her statement with a touching remark to her followers. When The Eras Tour returns in October, she teased more to come, but she also mentioned that she and her team are enjoying a much-needed rest in the interim.
Authorities announced on August 7 that two men from Austria, ages 19 and 17, had been apprehended. They were suspected of organizing an assault on Taylor Swift’s August 8–10 concerts at Vienna‘s Ernst Happel Stadium. Knives and explosives were apparently intended to “kill as many people as possible” by the elder suspect.
The issue became even more complicated two days later when Austrian investigators made a third arrest: an 18-year-old with possible ties to ISIS.
Following a sad incident in Southport, England, where three young girls were fatally stabbed during a yoga session with a Swift theme, these arrests took place. Taylor Swift later visited with two survivors of this incident during her Eras Tour stop in London as a sympathetic gesture.
