Carlos Humberto Grisales Higuita, a school bus driver in Colombia, was arrested after authorities say he kidnapped a young girl and held her captive for 12 years.
Grisales allegedly abducted the girl when she was just 7 years old in 2012, taking her to a home in Medellín where he sexually assaulted her and manipulated her into thinking the abuse was normal.
During the years she was missing, Grisales reportedly changed her name, moved her between various locations in Medellín and Bello, and kept her isolated from society, even preventing her from attending school.

At the age of 16, the girl confronted Grisales about his treatment of her, but he allegedly responded by locking her inside the house.
However, she managed to escape in February 2024, and Grisales was subsequently arrested by the National Police in Medellín.
He faces serious charges, including kidnapping, sexual abuse, and pornography involving a minor. Grisales has denied the charges, and the case has garnered widespread attention.
