Terror Group Threatens 30 RSS Kashmir Leaders, Probe On

The banned terror group known as “The Resistance Front,” which is a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has issued threats to numerous members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Jammu and Kashmir, releasing a list of 30 RSS leaders that it plans to target.

The threat comes just days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reaffirmed his vision for an “Akhand Bharat” (Undivided India).

The Indian government has stated that it is currently evaluating the situation, with a senior government official revealing that they are examining the authenticity of the threat.

The official also noted that TRF has mostly targeted Muslim leaders whom they believe are associated with the RSS or close to the Jammu and Kashmir government. However, the government dismissed the threat, calling it a mere weaponization of social media to spread false propaganda.

The list of targeted RSS members, who are in charge of areas in South and North Kashmir and Jammu region, does not include any big names, according to reports from the ground.

This is not uncommon, as terror outfits like TRF typically target those whom they perceive to be close to the JK administration. The threat comes at a time when the state administration is attempting to demonstrate that the situation in Kashmir has improved.

Meanwhile, an all-party delegation has been invited by National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah to visit Kashmir in the coming weeks to assess the ground situation during Eid.

In addition, leaders of 13 opposition parties met in Delhi and submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission, urging it to begin the election process in Jammu and Kashmir, as delimitation has been completed in the Union Territory.

On April 1, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke out against the partition of India, saying that even after seven decades of independence, the people of Pakistan are dissatisfied and now believe that it was a mistake.

Speaking at an event honouring the revolutionary and freedom fighter Hemu Kalani’s 100th birthday, he stated that “A divided Bharat” was a “nightmare” and that Akhand Bharat was real. The event was attended by members of the Sindhi population from other regions of the country.
