A Texas man is facing a murder charge after authorities say he confessed to strangling his roommate and dumping her body off a bridge. The disturbing case, investigated by the Fort Worth Police Department, involves 66-year-old Dennis William Day and the months-long disappearance of 47-year-old Rana Nofal Soluri.
Soluri, who worked as a flight attendant, was last seen alive in March 2025. Although she had been on leave for a minor surgery, her co-worker reported her missing after failing to hear from her for months.
According to police records, Soluri was scheduled to return to work on March 31. However, communication with her abruptly ended on March 19. A concerned colleague, who had known Soluri for years, told authorities that she lived with Day and shared a March 19 video of the victim holding her revolver with a male voice shouting in the background.
That video became an important piece of evidence in what was previously seen as a missing person case. Officers discovered that Soluri had not taken any professional or personal flights since October 2024, which is a red flag given her career.
In May, Soluri’s car was found at Day’s Grantland Circle residence. Day informed authorities that the car had been sitting idle for two months, about the same period he claimed not to have seen his roommate. Investigators considered it peculiar that Soluri’s brand-new automobile had been abandoned and her possessions had been placed in storage without explanation.
During a welfare check in June, Day described Soluri as a longtime acquaintance but said he had no idea where she was. Police obtained a warrant and acquired her phone’s data. Her last known call was made on March 21 at 3:43 p.m., and her final phone ping was captured just minutes later, several miles away from her home.
On June 23, cops contacted Day again at his home. This time, they retrieved camera evidence from his home security system. On the night of March 21, the footage showed Day dragging what seemed to be a lifeless body into the backyard. Soon later, the system stopped recording.
Faced with the video, Day allegedly admitted to strangling Soluri on the kitchen floor after an altercation. He informed police that she threatened to call the cops while filming him, which forced him to “snap.” Following the murder, he claimed he disabled the security system, placed the body in a black garbage can, and dropped it off a bridge in Bowie, Texas, about 70 miles from Fort Worth.
Although Day led officials to various bridge locations, Soluri’s remains have yet to be discovered. He also admitted to throwing her smartphone into a river and indicated the location of her recovered handgun.
Day is now being jailed at Tarrant County Jail under a $200,000 bail. Police continue to search for Soluri’s remains as the investigation continues.
