A Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering his wife and wrapping her body in a tarp, according to authorities.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that a jury convicted 34-year-old Christopher Robertson of murder in the death of his wife, Kristlynne Robertson. A judge handed down the half-century sentence shortly thereafter.
“He left five children without a mother,” Assistant District Attorney Riley Reynolds told the jury during the trial.
The incident unfolded on April 19, 2024, when the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a home in the 5500 block of Whitman Avenue at approximately 9:40 p.m., as detailed in a probable cause affidavit.
According to reports, Robertson’s brother—who lived with the couple—returned to the house after being away for several days.
“When he returned, he observed Christopher extremely intoxicated inside the house,” authorities stated. “He then saw Christopher walk into his bedroom, at which time [the brother] smelled a strong foul odor.”
The brother allegedly witnessed Robertson trip over an object in the bedroom. Upon investigating, he discovered his 34-year-old sister-in-law, Kristlynne, wrapped in a tarp.

In a decisive move, the brother escorted Robertson out of the home, contacted law enforcement and emergency services, and secured a handgun found on a desk in the defendant’s room for safekeeping. The firearm was later handed over to police.
Responding officers discovered the victim’s body in the far south bedroom of the residence. She was shirtless, wrapped in a tarp, and had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the face.
“I briefly met with Christopher Robertson, but he was too intoxicated to understand what I was saying or provide a meaningful response,” an officer wrote in the affidavit.
Authorities executed a search warrant for the home early the following morning. Later that day, at 12:41 p.m., Robertson made a chilling 911 call, reportedly confessing to the crime:
“My father-in-law is going to kill me. I actually killed his daughter. I killed his daughter.”

Detectives met Robertson at the residence, where he admitted to shooting his wife and expressed a desire to go to jail.
“Christopher Robertson also handed us a gun that he had on his person and stated that it was the gun that he used to shoot his wife,” investigators noted in their report.
The harrowing case has left a family devastated, with five children now facing a future without their mother. Robertson will serve his sentence in a Texas state prison.
