Andrew Gutierrez, a 35-year-old Texas resident, has been sentenced to 25 years in jail for a horrific assault on a pregnant woman in January 2024. The Brazos County District Attorney’s Office confirmed his conviction for aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, adding to his violent criminal background, which includes a 2016 conviction for persistent domestic violence.
Bryan Police responded to a disconnected 911 call at Gutierrez’s home, which uncovered a terrifying scene. The woman, who was 11 weeks pregnant, was found severely assaulted, with substantial bruises and swelling on her face, stomach, and chest. She needed rapid medical attention.
According to prosecutors, the attack began when an argument between Gutierrez and the victim escalated. He locked her inside his RV and chillingly declared, “Welcome to Hell House.” The violence intensified as he grabbed her hair and repeatedly punched and kicked her.
Gutierrez’s horrific assault included putting a 10-inch kitchen knife to the victim’s neck, endangering her life and her unborn child. Despite her appeals for mercy, the attack only stopped when she became unconscious.
While Gutierrez tried to dispose of evidence outside the RV, the victim called 911, allowing authorities to intervene. When cops arrived, they discovered the battered woman and evidence of a violent battle, such as broken glass, blood, and a discarded knife.
Gutierrez compelled the victim to make up a tale about two women attacking her. However, fast police action revealed the truth, resulting in Gutierrez’s imprisonment. Officers discovered vital evidence that supported the victim’s testimony, resulting in a solid case against the assailant.
The Brazos County DA’s office emphasized the severity of Gutierrez’s crimes and his history of violence. Prosecutors noted his previous five-year prison term for similar offenses, underscoring a pattern of abuse that culminated in this brutal attack.
Gutierrez will serve at least half of his 25-year sentence before being eligible for parole. The DA’s office hopes this sentence brings some measure of justice and safety for the victim, who bravely recounted her traumatic experience.
