Texas Woman Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Boyfriend Over Apartment Visit

A tragic incident unfolded in Texas on Sunday night when a 24-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly gunning down her boyfriend as he returned to their shared apartment to collect his belongings.

The suspect, identified as Derricka Ross, was taken into custody by authorities at the Derby at Steeplechase apartment complex located in Houston. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene following several distress calls regarding a disturbance and later, gunshots.

Major Earl Dean of the sheriff’s office confirmed in a video statement that deputies arrived at the complex around 9:14 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Javion Williams, lying near a stairwell just outside the apartment. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

Initial reports reveal that Ross and Williams had been in a romantic relationship. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Williams had returned to the apartment they once shared to gather his personal items. It was during this time Ross allegedly opened fire.

Officials on the scene confirmed that a weapon believed to be the murder weapon was recovered. Ross was detained at the scene and booked into the Harris County Jail later that night.

Major Dean emphasized that the investigation remains active, with officers continuing to speak with several potential witnesses who may have observed the events leading up to the shooting. However, no other individuals are currently believed to be involved in the case.

Ross is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

This shocking event has left the local community in distress and sparked questions around domestic violence and gun-related incidents in Texas. Authorities have not yet released further details about the motive or whether there had been prior incidents involving the couple.
