A Virginia woman has made game show history after scoring the largest single-game payout ever recorded on The Price Is Right.
Vanessa, who appeared on the show’s Mother’s Day-themed episode that aired Friday, walked away with more than $270,000 in total prizes and cash. Her biggest moment came during a BetMGM-sponsored game called “The Lion’s Share,” where she won over $240,000 in a single round.
The victory broke a long-standing record set in 2016, when another contestant earned $210,000 during one game segment.
The episode quickly drew attention online as fans reacted to the unusually high payout. Large wins are rare on daytime television, especially on a show that has aired for decades and built its reputation around smaller prize packages, vacations, and showcase totals.
Vanessa described the experience as overwhelming from the moment she entered the stage.
“From ‘Come on Down’ to playing ‘The Lion’s Share,’ it all felt so surreal — a dream moment that only kept getting bigger. I was nervous, excited and everything at once,” she said.
Her winnings included cash and additional prizes earned throughout the broadcast. By the end of the episode, her combined total surpassed the $270,000 mark, setting a new benchmark for contestants on the long-running CBS program.
Vanessa also spoke about how the money could affect her future.
“Winning over $200,000 is life changing,” Vanessa continued. “I plan to invest wisely, enjoy a little and treat my mom to a special surprise.”
BetMGM branding appeared prominently during “The Lion’s Share,” reflecting the growing connection between televised entertainment and gambling-related sponsorships. The segment helped deliver one of the most talked-about moments in recent game show history.
Since debuting in 1972, The Price Is Right has remained one of America’s longest-running daytime television programs. The show continues to attract audiences through major prize reveals, contestant reactions, and milestone wins like Vanessa’s record-setting appearance.
