Pizzaman and Chickenman have quickly become some of Ghana’s most popular fast-food spots, but behind the delicious pizzas and crispy chicken is an inspiring story of hustle, risk, and determination.
It all started with Christian Boakye Yiadom, a bright KNUST student with a passion for cooking. After losing his bid for SRC president in 2017, his friend Ebenezer Essuman-Amankwah encouraged him to channel his energy into business. That push led to the birth of Pizzaman, a side hustle that would soon take over his life (in the best way).
From Campus Hustle to National Success
Starting wasn’t easy. Christian juggled school, finances, and skeptics—including a concerned lecturer who thought he was “under spiritual attack” for trading textbooks for pizza dough. But he pushed through, using his hostel fees and pocket money to secure a spot near campus. With Ebenezer’s support, they scraped together enough for an oven and launched in January 2018.
By 2020, Pizzaman’s first official branch opened at KNUST. Today, the brand has over 10 locations, celebrity endorsements (like Medikal and Fella Makafui), and a growing fanbase.
Who Is Christian Boakye Yiadom?
- Education: 1st Class in Actuarial Science (KNUST), with certifications in Food & Beverage Management and Data Analysis.
- Early Cooking Skills: Learned at age 8 from his cousin—turned that passion into profit.
- Mindset: “If you really want to do something, you won’t make excuses. Just manage your time and go for it.”
From a campus experiment to a nationwide sensation, Christian’s story proves that sometimes, the biggest risks lead to the greatest rewards. And for Ghana’s foodies? Well, we’re just happy he chose pizza over politics.
