One half of the former musical group P-Square, Peter “Mr. P” Okoye, finally speaks out about the continuous tension with his twin brother, Paul “Rudeboy” Okoye, in public.

On Monday, August 12, 2024, Peter released a thorough post on his official and verified Instagram account, accusing Paul of destroying the heritage of the organization they founded together.

To the delight of their fans, the P-Square brothers, who had initially broken up in 2017 over a dispute involving their older brother Jude Okoye, got back together in 2021.

But this reunion was just temporary. Paul recently announced that the gang had broken up once more, claiming that Peter was the reason for his imprisonment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Peter was disappointed with Paul’s conduct and wondered why his brother was trying to “discredit all his efforts” in P-Square in an Instagram post. Paul, according to Peter, has been continuously supporting his older brother Jude, who he alleges has been attempting to “oppress” him.

Paul claimed that he was P-Square’s main songwriter and vocalist, while Peter disputed this, stating that their success was the product of their teamwork. He brought up how Peter’s song, “Ejeajo,” with TI, had been dismissed by Paul, who called it a failure based on the number of views it received on YouTube.

Peter listed several of the group’s hit songs, questioning whether those too were considered failures. “You never acknowledged the other songs like ‘Get-Squared’, ‘Bizzy Body’, ‘Personally’, ‘Roll It’, ‘Temptation’, ‘Alingo’, ‘More than a Friend’, ‘Shekini’, ‘Say Your Love’, ‘Gimme Dat’, ‘Senorita’, ‘Igbedu’ and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?”

Paul’s constant attempts to downplay Peter’s accomplishments, according to Peter, have resulted in P-Square—once the most celebrated and honored musical group in Africa—becoming a “laughing stock.” He underlined that the reason P-Square was unique to their fans was because of their unity and collective work.

“One thing you need to understand clearly is that the fans didn’t fall in love with P-Square because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-Square was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-Square because of our uniqueness and unity,” Peter added.

Peter suggested that family dynamics were a major factor in the group’s problems and chastised Paul for siding with Jude. He charged that Paul had disregarded his wife, his family, his ability, his ideas, and that he had sided with Jude in arguments.

Peter concluded by expressing his dissatisfaction with the continuing story and how it affects their fan base. “It seems like you are trying even harder now to make the fans think I’m jealous of you in an attempt to turn them against me,” the fan said.

You have been making every effort to make the fans despise me, but what happens? They will hate us both because we have let them down and let them down, not because they will never hate me. Peter wished his brother well as he concluded his letter, but emphasized the While wishing his brother well, Peter emphasized the seriousness of the issue and bemoaned the group’s declining once-great reputation.
