Canadian singer and songwriter, The Weeknd has released the official music video for his latest song titled “Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength),” which happens to be the theme song for Avatar 2: The Way of Water soundtrack.
The video for ‘Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)’ was released on January 16th, following the official release of the song back in December 2022.
The song was written by The Weeknd. He collaborated with Swedish House Mafia and composer Simon Franglen for the production.
Directed by Quentin Deronzier, the visual offers a brief glimpse of the singer shrouded in a blue haze before diving into a burst of fire and taking viewers through Pandora’s landscape — a fictional Earth-like moon in the Avatar sequel. In the video, the Na’vi (a humanoid species from Pandora) are forced into the water by a fire.
The musician previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter that the first ‘Avatar’ film made a huge impact and helped shape his life.
“That was probably the darkest time of my life,” The Weeknd told the publication.
He added that at the time he was uncertain about his future.
“I was homeless, pretty much. I had dropped out of school. I didn’t know if I was going to succeed as a musician. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to live to see tomorrow. And I remember I somehow got to see the film in theaters. I don’t know how I got in. It was such an escape from my real life that the film is tattooed in my brain.”
He says when he later got to work on the film, it felt like a full-circle moment.
“They told me they had one name on the list to do the song and it was me. It feels kismet and it’s a full-circle moment for me to be a part of something like this, because it is such an important film for me.”
