There Are No Record Labels In Ghana – Edem

Ghanaian rapper Denning Edem Hotor, widely known as Ayigbe Edem has said there are no record labels in Ghana.

According to Edem in exclusive interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom PLus 101.9fm , there are only management teams in Ghana now and not record labels.

A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it .Essentially, record labels work to sell the brand of the artist and the products they create.

However according to Edem none of the labels we see in the music industry are record labels.

A record label must have a Marketing Department, Legal Department ,Artist Development, Business Affairs, Promotion Department, Label Liaison, Publicity, and none of the so called labels has this departments in their teams he added.

He further told Fiifi Pratt that there are only management groups in the music industry.

When asked about ruff town records ,the rapper said it is a management group and that it does not meet the criteria of a record label.
