The 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or was revealed a few days ago, according to sources, and five Chelsea players were featured.

N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount Jorginho, and Cesar Azpilicueta were all selected.

Mendy had a fantastic debut season in the English Premier League, culminating in a UEFA Champions League victory for Chelsea over Manchester City in the final.

With Thomas Tuchel’s squad, the Senegalese goalkeeper also won the UEFA Super Cup.

After Mendy’s Man of the Match performance against Brentford on Saturday, Silva shared a post from Chelsea’s Instagram page, writing: “He won the Champions League as one of the finest goalkeepers?? ‘Why was he left off the Ballon d’Or shortlist?’

Silva also included many emoticons to emphasize how ludicrous he believed Mendy’s exclusion was.
