The MP for Dome Kwabenya, Hon, Adwoa Sarfo has formally written to accept her resignation as Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection to President Nana Akufo Addo.

Sarah Adwoa Safo, who has lived in the United States for about a year, thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a letter dated August 5 for his assistance during her “tough moment.”

The MP stated she was grateful to the President because, as the father of the country, he had been understanding of her situation.

The MP for Dome Kwabenya stated that:

“I am exceedingly grateful for your understanding, compassion, and unending devotion throughout this past year, especially during a very difficult period for me when I have had to be away from office.

The beautiful politician continued saying:

“Your kind support has been very much welcome and for that, I remain eternally grateful.”

Adwoa Safo expressed her appreciation for the President’s decision to remove her from her position as a minister of state and said it would allow her to devote more time to the needs of her people in terms of development.

“…this development is opportune and will afford me more time to concentrate on my Parliamentary responsibilities and Constituency engagements.

As well as consolidate the gains we have made as a government at the Constituency level in our quest to break the eight,” she emphasized.

Adwoa Safo further noted that despite her absence from Parliament, she is “cognizant of her duties to the 75,000 constituents who elected her in office.

Background

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo relieved the MP of her ministerial duties after she refused to attend parliamentary duty for about a year.

To that effect, the President of Ghana, His Excellency revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, with immediate effect.

This revocation was carried out in accordance with Article 81(a) of the Constitution via a letter dated July 28 and signed by Eugene Arhin, who happens to be the Director of Communications at the Presidency.
