Ex-Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Pleads Not Guilty to Rape Charges

  • Thomas Partey, 32, pleads not guilty to rape and sexual assault charges
  • Alleged offences span April 2021 – June 2022 during his Arsenal career.
  • Accusations involve incidents at his £6 million London mansion and a luxury Spanish hotel.
  • Trial set for November 2026 due to backlog in UK courts.

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has formally denied allegations of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third during court proceedings in London.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international entered a plea of not guilty to all charges at Southwark Crown Court, where he appeared just days after his Arsenal contract expired.

According to prosecutors, the alleged incidents are said to have taken place between April 2021 and June 2022, during his time with the Premier League club.

Partey is accused of raping one woman at his £6 million mansion and another at a luxury five-star hotel in Spain. He also faces an accusation of sexually assaulting a third woman after allegedly laying on top of her and attempting to kiss her.

Partey arrived at the court in a black Mercedes people carrier, stepping out and appearing to give a thumbs-up to reporters ahead of his hearing. Once inside, he confirmed his name and date of birth before standing to enter his plea of not guilty to all six counts.

His court appearance came only hours after he was booed by Tottenham Hotspur fans while playing for Villarreal in a Champions League fixture, which his side lost 1-0.

Judge Christopher Hehir has scheduled the trial for November 2, 2026, with proceedings expected to last between six and eight weeks. Addressing the delays, the judge explained the late trial date was due to the “huge backlog of cases” in the system.

“You have the benefit of bail. You’re essentially in a queue behind people waiting in prison to be tried,” Judge Hehir told Partey. He further emphasized the importance of staying in close contact with his legal team and reminded the midfielder of his obligation to attend his trial.
