Prosecutors are considering charges against DJ Tim Westwood following a lengthy investigation into historic sexual abuse claims made by several women.
The allegations, which span from 1982 to 2016, have been under scrutiny by the Metropolitan Police, who have interviewed the 67-year-old DJ four times since the accusations were first made public in 2022.
The claims were initially reported by BBC News and The Guardian, accusing Westwood of predatory and unwanted sexual behavior, including touching.
The women allege that the abuse took place over a period from 1992 to 2017, with incidents occurring in London.

In response, Westwood has firmly denied all accusations, calling the allegations of inappropriate behavior and wrongdoing “false.”

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is overseeing the investigation, confirmed that a file of evidence had been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which will now decide whether to bring charges against the former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra presenter.
The Metropolitan Police have emphasized their ongoing commitment to fully investigating the case with the support of prosecutors, stating they will continue to provide specialist support to those who have come forward with their allegations.
“We will thoroughly and properly investigate sexual offences as part of our commitment to making London safer for women and girls,” Furphy said in a statement to MailOnline.

In addition to the criminal investigation, an independent inquiry into Westwood’s conduct at the BBC was launched in August 2022 after the broadcaster received six historic complaints about bullying and sexual misconduct. The findings from this inquiry are still pending.
