Sometimes the best things come from the toughest moments. For Nigerian artist Tinyanosa, music wasn’t just a career move, it was a lifeline.
Born in Benin City and raised in Port Harcourt, she now lives in Kursk, Russia. But no matter where she is in the world, music has always followed her.
I used to write music just for fun,” she shared. “But I really got serious about it when I was going through a hard time and couldn’t talk to anyone. Music became my way to speak.”
In 2023, everything changed. Tinyanosa was under pressure to follow a path that didn’t feel right. She was burned out and overwhelmed until she decided to pause school and focus on what truly made her feel alive, her music. With the support of her family and her managers, Seamas and Juwon, she stepped fully into the artist life.
Now, she creates in her own way and at her own pace.
Sometimes lyrics and melodies just hit me when I’m falling asleep or walking. I have to record them right away. Music comes naturally to me — it’s never forced,” she said.
Her sound blends genres like R&B, jazz, hip-hop, soul, and more. She doesn’t believe in being boxed in. On her album Gemini vol. 2: Tales of the Brokenhearted, she worked with fellow rising stars like Reetkat, BuTaSkOch, Oze, Lema, and AdeByron, a project that helped her grow even more as an artist.
Growing up, people called her “weird.” Today, she embraces that uniqueness.
There’s no one like me. My music, my voice, the way I write — it’s all different, and I love that.”
Tinyanosa sees music as more than just sound. It’s her way of speaking for others too.
I want to be a voice for people who can’t speak up. That’s what keeps me going.”
With a new collaboration dropping soon and more in the pipeline, Tinyanosa is just getting started. Her advice to other artists? “Don’t pressure yourself. It’s okay to take breaks. What matters most is being true to who you are.”
And if you haven’t heard her yet, just know, she’s coming with something different.
Trust me,” she says, “you don’t want to miss what I’m building.”
