Maddison Wilson, a 37-year-old transgender woman accused of serious child sexual offenses, was found dead just days before she was due to appear in court.
Wilson, who had been facing charges of raping a young girl and assaulting a boy, was set to enter pleas at Southampton Crown Court.
Wilson had been accused of raping a girl under 13 in Hull back in 2011 and committing other sexual offenses against a boy in Southampton between 2017 and 2020.
On February 12, she appeared in a magistrates’ court, but before the case could move forward, Wilson tragically passed away.

Her body was discovered hanging near Southsea, Portsmouth, on the morning of February 14, two days after her court appearance.

The Hampshire coroner’s office confirmed her death, but the circumstances remain unclear. A full inquest into her death is expected soon.
Wilson had attended her court hearing wearing a pink headband and black clothing.
During the proceedings, she confirmed her preferred pronouns were “she/her,” and the official court charge sheet identified her as female. It is unknown how long she had identified as a woman.
The case has now come to an abrupt end with her passing, and while the investigation into her death is ongoing, it raises many unanswered questions.
