Travis Scott Arrested in Paris After Fight with Bodyguard in Luxury Hotel

Travis Scott was arrested in Paris following a confrontation with his bodyguard, according to French police.

The rapper, 33, was detained at a five-star hotel in Paris on Friday, Aug. 9, as reported by CNN, BBC News, NBC News, and France 24.

According to BBC News and NBC News, the musician allegedly assaulted a security guard who sought to separate the two men at the George V hotel, according to French officials.

“I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard,” the Paris prosecutor’s officer stated in a statement to NBC News.

“The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police,” the statement added.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, Scott, real name Jacques Bermon Webster II, was pictured attending Team USA’s basketball semifinal win over Serbia at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

A Scott spokesperson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

On June 20, Scott was arrested in Miami for disorderly intoxication and trespassing after receiving a warning, according to public records.

“Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding,” his attorney Bradford Cohen said in a statement at the time. “There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution.”
