Famous dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, is in the spotlight as Ghana increases efforts to stop illegal mining, also called “galamsey.”
As the saying goes, the internet never forgets. Old posts from 2014 as well as 2016 on social media have raised questions with regards to whether he may have been involved in this controversial activity (i.e. Galamsey).
In a sarcastic yet viral post on Facebook from May 15, 2014, Shatta Wale shared a photo of himself to his fans and followers at a mining site.
Interestingly enough, he mentioned working with a Chinese company in the mining business.
And as a result, this has drawn attention because Chinese nationals have often been linked to illegal mining in Ghana.
Meanwhile, on the 7th day of September, 2016, Shatta Wale posted yet again on Facebook, telling his fans that he was on his way to his mining site for work.
In effect, these posts are now being discussed as the government is taking stronger action to fight illegal mining, consequentially, which has caused serious harm to the Ghanaian environment.

Although Shatta Wale’s involvement in mining does not mean he was directly part of illegal activities, his connection to a Chinese company raises serious eyebrows.
His fans and critics are now waiting to hear his response to these new revelations, as his reputation could be seriously affected by this issue.
Until then, we will wait on how the Dancehall star responds to the validity of these allegations and will be sure to update you guys.
