Former President Donald Trump expressed gratitude towards law enforcement on Truth Social after an alarming incident at his Pennsylvania rally on Saturday night, where he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, recounted the terrifying moment, stating he heard “a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.” While it remains unclear whether Trump was struck by a bullet or shrapnel, blood was visible on his ear and face as Secret Service agents quickly escorted him off the stage.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.

He continued; “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead.

Trump added, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

In response to the incident, President Biden made brief remarks from Rehoboth, Delaware. Although he had not yet spoken to Trump, Biden expressed his hope to do so soon.

Biden condemned the violence, saying, “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s sick. That’s one of the reasons we have to unite this country. You cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this.”
