The Olympic Sports Game is now about to get more and more interesting and keep you glued to your tv sets as there have been confirmations that ‘Twerking’ will be added to it starting from 2024.
That sounds weird, right? yeah maybe to you but not to all though.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a meeting on Friday, April 1, 2022, introduced a new four-sport Olympic qualifier series for the upcoming Paris 2024 which includes BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding, and sport climbing.

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 festivals will offer a new Olympic experience to fans from around the world, blending sport with music, art and culture according to a post on their official website.
However, according to a new statement sighted online by Townflex, it can be said that preparations are underway to include twerking also into the Olympic Sports Games.
Twerking is a dance that requires you to shake your booty up and down, according to Wikipedia, its a type of dance that came out of the bounce music scene of New Orleans in the late 1980s, whilst the Oxford English Dictionary defines twerking as dancing “in a sexually provocative manner, using thrusting movements of the bottom and hips while in a low, squatting stance”.

Twerking Added To Olympic Sport
In a statement, one member from the committee explained that many celebrities and public figures have been seen twerking, and she was amazed by rapper Megan Thee Stallion and her twerking techniques. However, another committee member pointed out that the soon-to-be sport is a worldwide thing, noting that Jamaican artist Spice has shown great examples of the dance.
“During the games, contestants will have to show how the cheeks of their glutes hit every rhythm to a song while creating unique movements simultaneously; a skill that not everyone can successfully achieve,” said committee members Margret and Antonette Willis.
Although the rounds are still being created, members shared that for the first round in 2024, contestants will have to dance to a remix of the song “April Fools,” played by new artist Gotchya.
