Gerard Deulofeu opened the scoring for Udinese with a gorgeous solo goal in the first half. The home side were dominant in the first half and deservingly took the lead. In the second half, Napoli changed tactics and had the game under Cruise Control.

They were rewarded with two goals; all coming from Victor Osimhen in the second half of the game. The Nigerian central attacker now had 11 goals in tge Seria A;

“His 10th league goal made him the first Nigerian in history to reach double figures for two different seasons in Serie A having scored 10 last season.”

The Napoli Proficient central forwarder also became the fourth African player in history of the Italian Major League to reach the
double figures in 2 football seasons after Samuel Eto’o of Cameron, George Weah of Libya, and Mohammed Salah of Egypt.

The win which saw Napoli climb to joint-top spot with AC Milan with 63 points at piece is a strong title statement by Spalletti’s boys.

After the match, Victor Osimhen was happy for the reaction of the team after a slow first half start.

“The atmosphere was really good, even though we weren’t really ourselves in the first half, but we showed a good reaction in the second half. “Big thank you to the fans never stopped cheering us on and this win is really very important for us,” Victor Osimhen said after the match.

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti also made a statement after the match and was reporting to DAZN:

“All season we have put pressure on the opponents, but weren’t as sharp and clinical as today. The fans really helped, as they remained passionate and eager to turn it around,” Spalletti told DAZN.

“This is an important victory, because it must be underlined Udinese are a very strong side and so well-organised.

“Osimhen is a player with extraordinary potential. He has this remarkable change of pace, but sometimes he can go beyond his limitations. He is very strong in the air and we made more of those crosses into the box this time.”

In the second half of the game, Napoli changed from their 4-3-3 and transformed it to 4-2-3-1 after the restart with the introduction of Dries Mertens for Fabian Ruiz.

“Systems mean only so much, modern football is more about how you interpret them. We must be ready for the high press, for quick turnovers that have been modernised, spaces not between the lines, but between the opposition players. They no longer have these precise lines, it’s about interpreting, seeing and using those spaces.

“There will always be a space behind the defenders and we need to make the most of them.”

However, the Nigerian striker received a late yellow card hence will miss Napoli trip to Atalanta. Luciano Spalletti confirmed this after the game when being asked “if Napoli will be leading the table if Victor Osimhen wasn’t injured in November.”

“He is one of the players we missed. In these tournaments, you want 18 players available all the time. Osimhen was missing, unfortunately, we won’t have him next time through suspension, but at least he will be well-rested,” Spalletti added.
