Mrs Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has apologised to the public for the delay in announcing the outcome of the 2020 General election.
EC who promised to make available the outcome of the 2020 Ghana Elections 24 hours after the polls which were supposed to be 5 pm yesterday, Tuesday, December 8, has failed to fulfil that promise.
Her failure to announce the result in the given timeframe has caused a lot of stir nationwide as people are finding their own interpretations to what they think is going on with the board trusted to serve them with the accurate figures.
The Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Jean Mensa in a press briefing on Wednesday dawn, December 9, 2020 at around 12:30 am asked that calm remains as she apologizes and gives reasons as to what actually caused the delay.
According to her, Commission is still receiving results, and as it stands now the Commission has received fourteen (14) results from the Regional Collation Centres with two outstanding.
And out of the received fourteen (14) results from the Regional Collation, as at 7 am, Wednesday morning the commission has been able to certify seven (7) results and made it public for each and everyone to see as they work on verifying the remaining seven (7) results, and keep us up to speed when they receive the outstanding two which is not yet in.
