Why I’m More Excited Working With New Artistes- Wizkid Reveals!
Wizkid or Starboy Ayodeji Balogun has revealed how he and Temilade Openiyi, know professionally as Tems, recorded the popular song “Essence.”
“It’s like a wild situation when I record at home. I may be working with a group of roughly ten producers. Everyone would be in their own rooms, and all we’d be doing is making music. We discussed the concept with her (Tems) at the hotel. It was a breeze. We simply laid down the tunes, and she didn’t seem to mind. She felt we needed to make another record, but I already knew we’d created something special.”
The 31-year-old musician, who is now on a globe tour in support of his successful album, “Made in Lagos,” also mentioned that he enjoys collaborating with diverse artists. “I enjoy meeting new artists,” he remarked. When I’m in a room with a fresh artist, I get the feeling that I’m right there when the magic happens. It excites me tremendously. We learn from each other when I enter a room with a new artist. Getting in the room with fresh artists excites me even more than getting in the room with my peers or friends. I don’t know what to say.”
