Wisconsin Man Charged After Brutal Assault on Ex-Girlfriend He 'just broke up with,'

A 34-year-old Wisconsin man now faces multiple felony charges after an appalling assault on his ex-girlfriend, an incident that has left the community in shock.

The accused, identified as Hayden Daffinson, allegedly struck his former partner while collecting his personal belongings from her residence. Authorities report that his attack was not only savage but also premeditated, as evidenced by the brutal use of an ax during the confrontation.

The incident unfolded on June 22, 2025, when emergency services rushed to the 300 block of East Merrill Avenue following a distress call from an unnamed adult female. Witnesses and first responders confirm that the woman, aged 38, was attacked with an ax, leaving her with deep lacerations and severe injuries.

Despite the immediate provision of lifesaving measures by responding officers, the gravity of her wounds necessitated urgent transportation to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Soon after, due to the critical nature of her injuries, the victim was airlifted to Theda Medical Center in Neenah for extensive surgical treatment. Medical professionals have since reported that while she remains in stable condition, her road to full recovery is expected to be long and arduous.

Amid this chaos, investigators have been working diligently to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the horrifying assault.

Authorities made an arrest later that same day. Officers located Daffinson near Germantown, Wisconsin, after tracking his vehicle at speeds reportedly exceeding 110 mph in a high-stakes pursuit.

His capture took place shortly after, with police successfully apprehending him and transporting him to Froedtert Hospital for a medical evaluation. Court records indicate that he is now held at the Fond du Lac County Jail with a staggering $5 million bond.

Additional information obtained from court documents paints a grim picture of the encounter. According to witness statements, the victim had recently ended their relationship and had invited the suspect to her home solely for the purpose of retrieving his personal property.

However, moments after their brief encounter, the situation escalated violently. The victim recounted that Daffinson, allegedly fueled by intense anger over the breakup, ranted violent threats before proceeding to hack her with the ax.

It is reported that he struck her no fewer than 25 times, inflicting multiple skull fractures, a series of lacerations across her head, back, and extremities, and breaking both of her arms.

Law enforcement officials have described the attack as one of the most savage acts of domestic violence they have encountered in recent times. Fond du Lac Police and local district attorney Eric Toney have decried the incident as a brutal example of domestic abuse—a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise from volatile breakups.

These developments have triggered an outpouring of community support for the survivor as well as renewed calls for stricter measures to protect individuals from such violent domestic confrontations.

In a press release, Police Chief Aaron Goldstein expressed his concern and solidarity with the victim, emphasizing the coordinated efforts of various agencies that led to the swift identification and capture of the suspect. The community’s resilience and prompt response of emergency services have been lauded as embodying the spirit of communal support in times of crisis.

As the case moves through the judicial system, many are left wondering how such an atrocious act could have unfolded so close to home. The ongoing investigation promises more revelations, and the community awaits further legal proceedings with bated breath.
