In a heartwarming and unique meeting, the world’s tallest and shortest women came together to celebrate the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day.
Rumeysa Gelgi, a 27-year-old Turkish web developer, and Jyoti Amge, a 30-year-old Indian actress, met for afternoon tea at the iconic Savoy Hotel in London.
Gelgi, who holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest woman at 7 feet 1 inch (215.16 cm), and Amge, who is 2 feet 1 inch (62.8 cm) tall and holds the record for the shortest woman, shared an inspiring conversation despite their striking height difference.

Gelgi, who has Weaver syndrome—a rare condition causing accelerated growth and skeletal deformities—joked that it was “difficult for us to make eye contact at times.”
Yet, she found the encounter “amazing” and said that they quickly realized they had much in common, including a shared love for self-care, makeup, and nail art.
Amge, who is best known for her role as Ma Petite in American Horror Story, has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
She expressed her joy in finally meeting Gelgi, saying, “I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but today, I was happy to look up and see the world’s tallest woman.”

The two women, who earned their Guinness World Records titles in 2011 and 2021, have now been celebrated as icons in the Guinness World Records 70th anniversary edition.
Their meeting highlights how the Guinness World Records celebrates diversity, bringing people from all walks of life together.
Guinness World Records editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday, reflected, “By bringing together these two amazing, iconic women, we are able to share their unique perspectives on life with the world.”
