Google-owned video streaming platform, YouTube has finally restored the official channel of former American President, Donald Trump.
Trump’s YouTube channel was limited last two years, although the channel remained live, he was restricted from posting new updates/videos.
The video streaming platform banned Trump in 2021 for violating its policy of inciting violence after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, when Congress began to certify Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
In 2021, then-YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said Trump’s restrictions would be lifted when it believed the risk of real-world violence had subsided.

The decision means that Trump’s accounts on three major platforms from which he was suspended or restricted are now restored, in time for his expected campaign for the 2024 election. Facebook owner Meta and Twitter had both earlier decided to reinstate Trump’s accounts, after suspending them for fear he would incite further violence.
Trump who is working on his campaign towards the upcoming 2024 elections can now share his messages in video to his subscribers on YouTube now that his channel has been restored.
As of Friday (March 17), Trump’s YouTube account has more than 2.6 million subscribers.
