Zelenskiy says Ukraine preparing for all defence scenarios

On Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that preserving Ukraine’s borders was a “continuous priority” and that his country was prepared for any scenario involving Russia and its partner Belarus.

Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address that “Protecting our border, both with Russia and Belarus – is our constant priority,” and that “We are preparing for all possible defence scenarios.”

Zelenskiy made his statements on the day of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Belarus, amid speculation about a possible fresh onslaught by Moscow, which could originate in Belarus.

In his speech, Zelenskiy renewed his call for Western nations to supply Ukraine with strong air defenses. He also stated that his men were in control of the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, which had experienced some of the heaviest combat.

Zelenskiy who requested a bigger audience to spread out his message of pace after contacting FIFA to allow his message of peace be aired across the world was disappointed after his request was turned down.

Despite FIFA’s refusal to allow a video message to be broadcast before of the soccer World Cup final in Qatar, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed on Sunday that the world had nonetheless heard his call for peace.

“Even though FIFA blocked this message from being aired at the stadium before the final game in Qatar, the world still heard our appeal,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address to Ukrainians.
